Still, we appreciate the (relative) freedom that McDonough offers candidates to really share who they are beyond the statistics and other facts presented in the rest of their application and encourage you to embrace this opportunity to stand out to the admissions committee. Their behavior is so off the wall and shocking that as a society as a whole we choose to deal with it with humor. Both of the shows portrayals of drug use represent that social construction of the drug addict in modern society. This depiction is based on the hardcore addicts living in rock bottom addiction. In my addiction I showed some of the characteristics shown in the shows and I know many people who also fell into this description. Although it does use the worst addicts to describe addiction in general, I feel like Breaking Bad does an honest job of showing the shocking disease of meth addiction. I feel like â€Å"It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia† is more of a biased approach and really undermines the seriousness of the issue. It is a comedy show, however, and it delivers as a hilarious episode. The perception I had growing up and mainstream society still has of an addict is one that permeates throughout these shows. In my opinion drugs should be legalized and harm reduction should be the new frontier of the drug issue. The media, however, perpetuates fear in their portrayal of addiction using all genres and keeps the mainstream public in the dark about the real issues. It keeps the prohibition line of thinking as the prevailing solution for drug use and keeps the drug war going.

The scope of operation management is never dying and it embraces internal and external factors associated with business of any organisation. From manufacturing to supply, from marketing to customer satisfaction, from financing to human resource, operation management has its deep roots in the organisation’s framework (S. Anil Kumar, N. Suresh, 2008). Two case studies helped in understanding the role of operation management and how it can be utilized in improving overall performance of the organisations. Heathrow Airport is among world’s leading organisations that provide its customers with excellent services and it managed to sustain that position through years by effective operation management procedures. It has assigned one fourth of its employees to operational tasks which ensures greatest level of quality service. On the other hand, Nestlà ©Ã¢â‚¬â„¢ employed a tremendous operation management task force to maintain its brand value. It is evident of the fact why nestle consumers prefer its products over other brands. It has successfully achieved a competitive advantage over other foods and beverage companies operating all over the world through systemic and devoted operation management and planning. Concluding, the most significant role operation management plays is ensuring greater levels of customer satisfaction for the organisations for their brands, products and services. Customer satisfaction is utmost objective of any organisation and it will require that organisation to develop, implement and manage a sustainable operation management plan that could work in vicinity of other necessary activities and operations. Operation managers at organisations have the utmost responsibility in promising desired levels of satisfaction among consumers and customers thus fulfilling requirements for achieving basic objectives for the organisation. George Orwell’s 1984 and Stalin’s Russia Essay -- Compare Contrast Ess

  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  In George Orwell’s 1984, the strategies used by Oceania’s Political Party to achieve total control over the population are similar to the ones employed by Joseph Stalin during his reign. Indeed, the tactics used by Oceania’s Party truly depicts the brutal totalitarian society of Stalin’s Russia. In making a connection between Stalin’s Russia and Big Brothers’ Oceania, each Political Party implements a psychological and physical manipulation over society by controlling the information and the language with the help of technology.   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Many features of Orwell's imaginary super-state Oceania are ironic translations from Stalin’s Russia. In Oceania, the Party mainly uses technology as the chief ingredient to implement a psychological manipulation over society by controlling the information they receive. An example of this is the big screen television set up in every person’s home, and the poster all over the city. The giant â€Å"telescreen† in every citizen’s room blasts a constant stream of propaganda designed to make the failures and short successes of the Party appear to be glorious. In Winston Smith’s apartment, this â€Å"instrument† is always on spouting propaganda and constantly brain washing the peoples’ mind. In actual fact, â€Å"It could [only be] dimmed†¦ there [is] no way of shutting it off†. In doing this, the Political Party is in complete control over the citizens’ mind, blasting what they want each individual to think (Orwell, 6). They psychologically stimulate each individuals mind, limiting their ability to think and have a mind of their own. In a similar way, Stalin’s created â€Å"The Poster† and The Pravda (the Russian newspaper controlled by the government during Joseph Stalin's regime) to twist and manipulate the minds of people into believing that what they were saying was absolutely right and truth. Using this power, Stalin and his regime would get people to do anything for them. (Basgen, 2010)   Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  Ã‚  The creation of gigantic posters is one of the most psychological manipulating tactics used in Oceania and Russia with the enhancement and help of technology. In Oceania, one could find â€Å"A colored poster†¦with the face of a man†¦ [Whose] eyes fallowed you about when you moved†. The caption in the poster says that â€Å"Big Brother Is Watching You† (Orwell, 5).
